Something to Think About

The Moonlight Sky

The Moonlit shadows reached out to embrace the branches and leaves of the forest trees.  Looking up, admiring the Moon and the thousands of stars shining down.  It’s just amazing.

Your senses heighten, and you hear the slight rustle of the breeze gently brushing the leaves and feel the fresh air.  Your eyes adjust to the darkness and still see the slight shadows of the trees and outlines of the trail.

Moonlight and tree branches

Being here, you realize how bright Moonlit nights could be. Mysterious, romantic, scary, or all of the above.  The Moon is always changing just as we do. It never leaves.  Every day it's a different version of itself just like we are a different version of ourselves.  It's always there in our light and in our dark moments.

Between the light of the Sun and the darkness of night... is the light of the Moon.

The gentle illumination that the Moon brings, it symbolizes your inner feelings and desires, your shadow self, and things that you are yet to discover about yourself.

In its subtleness and gentleness, you’ll feel more intuitive and gain passive knowledge and it can help to learn more about yourself.

The passive knowledge and insight that comes to you, not the kind that you actively search for in the world, it contains the inner insight with the inner world.

Moonlight Stars and Trail Hiker

Moonlight and Stars on the Trails

“The Moonlight behind the trees, the stars in the sky, and the headlamp of a trail hiker illuminates the night on the trail. One feels a small part in a big world.”

The Trail Hiker Finding the Way in the Moonlight

Everything seems so black and eerie except for the Moonlight and the stars. With the help of the headlamp, “Is this the end of the trail? or maybe the beginning of the Universe?”

The Moon’s impacts on life.

The tides, Moonlight, lunar seasons or cycles, and time.

  • It causes tides and creates a rhythm that has guided Mother Earths nature, plants, wildlife, and humans for thousands of years.

  • The rotation around Earth gives all forms of life a sense to the rhythm of time.

  • It helps with the healthy ebb and flow of all things, water, feelings, and emotions.

  • It helps with the inner changes, the physical changes, and the adaptations on Earth.

  • It symbolizes immortality and eternity, enlightenment, and the dark side of Nature.

Moon and Clouds

The Moon Shines through the Clouds

“The clouds are swiftly moving East, and the Moon continues to shine through the thick clouds.”

New Moon’s Beginnings

The New Moon is in line with the Sun and Earth. Moon's dark side is facing the Earth, making it appear dark.

With the new lunar Moon’s energy, it’s a good time to think about:

  • New beginnings and transformation.

  • Personal growth and discover what you really want.

  • Desires, dreams, and goals of what is really important to you.

  • Get the creative energy juices flowing.

  • Blessing and healing.

Waxing Moon’s Growth Forward and Upwards

The Waxing Moon is gaining light and expanding to become a Full Moon.  Moving from a New Moon towards a Full Moon.

With the Moon increasing in brightness, it’s a good time to think about:

  • Grow and reach upwards and forwards in ideas, relationships, and work.

  • Focus on new projects.

  • Grow the fresh new ideas.

  • Abundance that brings joy and happiness.

  • Prosperity that brings gladness and appreciation.

“Taking a picture of the Moon and trying show its details is not easy. But I do try.”

Full Moon's Energy and Maturity

The Full Moon is when it appears brightly lit at night. It illuminates the night sky. It illuminates the dark with light that is reflected from the Sun.

With the lunar energy at its fullest, it’s a good time to think about:

  • Take time to re-energize.

  • Remove all negative energy, thoughts, feelings, and things that keep you from progress and moving forward.

  • Enhance positive energy, keep the positive progress moving forward, thoughts, ideas, feelings, relationships, and work.

  • Gratitude of the blessings you currently have.

  • The creation and the connection you have around you and with Nature.

Waning Moon’s Rest

The Waning Moon’s light begins to grow less visible each night and the reflected sunlight is decreasing to become a New Moon.  Moving from Full Moon towards the New Moon.

With the Moon decreasing in brightness, it’s a good time to think about:

  • Taking care of yourself.

  • Rest, recoup, recharge, and restore new energy.

  • Remove the energies and issues that are not important or relevant anymore.

  • Let go of bad relationships.

  • Free yourself from certain things, burdens and sorrows.

Moonlight and Fire

The Moon is steadfast and always there watching over you.

“I was standing by a fire burning old wood in the burn barrel and I just happened to look up and there it was - a reminder of my humanity and where I belong in the Universe.”

The Moon’s Illumination with Ambient Lighting

This dark-sky moment with the illumination of the Moonlight makes you realize there is a balancing need for the darkness and ambient outdoor lighting.  With the inviting ambiance of the Moonlight, you can appreciate the dark sky and still navigate with little outdoor light. On these bright Moonlit nights, I like to create ambient lighting with candles, dimly light outdoor lamps, tiki torches, campfire, and a variety of solar garden lights.

The inviting ambiance of the Moonlight reflecting, and the warm orange lights could create a cozy, inviting experience on your porch, in your front and back yard, and in your gardens. It will help you relax and help your mind reflect on good things. With the Moonlight’s help you can feel at peace and at ease because you truly are a unique part of the Universe just as the Moon is a unique part of the Universe.

At this time of the year in late November and early December, the days are shorter, and the darkness of night is longer. Enjoy the extended evenings with ambient lighting indoors and outdoors. To preserve the dark sky, use adaptive lighting to balance the visibility and the darkness to the availability of the moonlight.

Ambient Blue Lighting

“The ambient blue lighting on the fountain and the sound of the running water creates my most favorite ambient atmosphere.”

Ambient Orange Lighting

“The ambient orange lighting of the gardens solar balloon lamp hangs from my pergola. The light gently flickers like a flame. I love it and my friends do too.”

The night darkness and the natural Moonlight of the sky are important to many animals and plants.

It affects the animals hunting, the ocean life spawning and growth, wildlife navigation and migration, and even the certain birds that sing at night. Here in Central Florida, we hear the cicadas that make their mating sounds every night during the summer months.  Night darkness even affects the plants growth, and the flowers that bloom only at night.

The night darkness and the natural Moonlight of the sky are important to humans as well.  It helps with the rhythm of the biological clock, for resting and sleep, and the ebb and flow of feelings and emotions. Also, like sunlight, the Moonlight provides the body with vitamin D, mood-boosting endorphins, and nitric oxide that can help lower blood pressure.

Moonlight and Trees Branches Leaves

Good Evening, Moon

Here is a nice Moonlight tidbit to know: With the reflected sunlight from the Moon, solar panels can convert Moonlight into electricity. It’s a very tiny amount of energy.

“Maybe you can toast one slice of bread in the morning.”
