Treats - Dog Biscuits

A Year with Daisy!

Daisy, my rottweiler dog, is now a year old.  I have a collection of cute and adorable photos of her from when she was a puppy last year up to now. She was six weeks old when she came to live with us and be a part of our family in October 2022. She is genuinely a happy dog that loves running and exploring the trails on our property.  We take a walk about two or three times a day on the trails.  We share the love for nature.  Daisy explores and sniffs everything and I explore and take pictures of everything.  We always find interesting things along the trails.  A plant, a flower, a bug, butterflies, or whatever is by the trails.

An adorable Rottweiler puppy dog joined our family!

Here are some cute puppy pictures. Daisy is six weeks old.

I’m sharing some recipes for doggie biscuits that my dogs love and yours will too! This recipe “Peanut Butter Doggie Biscuits” is our dogs most favorite and mine too because it is so simple and easy to make.

Peanut Butter Doggie Biscuits

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup whole wheat flour (or any type of flour - oat, rice, potato, etc.)

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 1/3 cup peanut butter (or regular)

  • 1 1/4 cup hot water

  • Cookie cutters or a round cup to cut out biscuits

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. In a bowl, mix peanut butter and hot water. Then add the oats and the flour. Mix well.

  2. Drop dough on lightly floured surface and knead. If the dough is still too sticky to roll, then sprinkle more of the type of flour you are using.

  3. Roll out dough and use a cookie cutter or the rim of a cup and cut into desired shapes. Bake on greased baking sheet for 20-30 minutes. Store in airtight container.

Daisy at three months old.

“Good morning! Can we play?”

Daisy is growing so fast. Here she is at three months old.

Every morning Daisy always starts wiggling, dancing, and licks me about ten times "Good morning".

She becomes a dancing and spinning ballerina when it's time to go for a walk or I should say, a run on the trails of our property.

This recipe is so easy to make, and the ingredients are just simple staples found in the pantry and are always on hand.  My dogs prefer these than those store-bought milk-bones.

Chillin’ in my chair. Daisy is seven months old. She is a big girl and wants to sit in the chair like a big person.

Daisy at eight months old.

When I trim the large palm fronds off the palmetto trees, she picks them up and drags them away. She is a great help with the yard work.

In the next set of pictures, Daisy is ten months old.

In the hot summer months, Daisy loves to cool down in the kiddie pool.  She jumps in the pool every time we come back from our walk on the trails.

  • 2 eggs

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. In large bowl, mix the peanut butter, egg, and pumpkin puree. Add the flour.  Mix well.

Daisy grew some interesting teeth?

At ten months old, Daisy is still always getting into something.  Chewing on sticks, toys, leaves, anything she can find and get in her mouth.  Like a teething toddler.   One day I was done working and she had something in her mouth.

She looked up at me and I laughed so hard.  What a sense of humor!  She grew some teeth!  It was some kind of thin plastic lid to something.

Then she tilted her head.

“Why are you laughing so hard?”

At eleven months old, Daisy is not happy.

What do you think? Don’t like her food? Not allowed to destroy my plants? or

‘Cause I called her “Daisy, the Destroyer” when she destroyed about 12 of my plants in pots?

The plants and pots were shrewn all over the yard.

Then Daddy says, “By the looks of her lip, she wants to listen “Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley.”

But then she was sorry, and we listened to Elvis. We were both happy.

Additional tips for doggie treats that dogs love:

  • Brush the baked cookies with a few teaspoons of fish sauce. And then return the cookies in the hot oven with it turned off and let the cookies sit in the oven for about an hour.  They'll be brown, stinky, and extra crunchy.

  • Add sardines for really, really stinky dog biscuits.

  • Add sweet potato pulp instead of pumpkin.

  • You can grind the oats in a food processor for a few minutes for the desired consistency of whole wheat flour.

Great tip for dogs to make them feel extra special when it comes to dinner time: My dogs love peanut butter, bacon, leftover brown gravy, and grated Romano cheese.

Sometimes my dogs get tired of the same dog food, so I liven it up a bit and sprinkle some grated Romano cheese on top, stir in a little bit of leftover brown gravy, or crumble pieces of bacon in their food. My dog Luke is a picky eater, and he loves the grated cheese on his dog food.

The next set of pictures, Daisy is twelve months old. One year old!

When I trim the palmetto trees and put the palm fronds in a pile, Daisy loves to play and roll around in the pile of palm fronds.

Her ability to find things underground is amazing.  She'll sniff the ground and find old buried seashells.  She can sniff out, pinpoint, and find buried old metal, seashells, snail shells, bugs, cicadas living under the ground, and moles.

Daisy at one year old!

Our strong girl!

She can pull and tow a car tire away.  Sometimes I forget how strong she is because she is so gentle, obedient, and loving with me.

These final pictures of Daisy at one year old sums up our pride and joy in having her as part of our family. We are so proud of her as a loving, smart, determined, and a hard-working family member.
