A Butterfly Haven

Goodbye! Beautiful Butterfly!

The weather is getting cooler, and Fall is almost here. I’m seeing fewer and fewer butterflies as the wildflowers are slowly disappearing. The weather is changing, the landscape is changing, and the butterflies too are getting ready for the winter season. The butterflies could be still laying eggs and the caterpillar’s chrysalis might still be forming. I’ve yet to discover the butterfly eggs and their chrysalis yet. You never know and I might find some. I just need to look a little closer at the leaves and their undersides to find the butterfly eggs and the chrysalis. I never tire of walking the trails and I’m always eager to discover new things.

Bidens Alba

Bidens Alba is also commonly known as Spanish Needles, Butterfly Needles, and Beggerticks. This plant grows in the wild and is common along these trails. They grow the hitchhiker seeds that always cling to your clothes. The butterflies love these cute little white flowers of this plant. I always find them fluttering around these flowers.

Here a some pictures of butterflies that I’ve taken and these may be the last of them until the Spring. So enjoy!

I discovered a new word today!

Eudemonia

My first thought was “Oh, no…what is this word"?” It sounds like “Pneumonia”.

I have a case of eudemonia.

I walk on the trails every day, see lots of beautiful butterflies, and now I have eudemonia.

What do you do each day to have eudemonia?

 Eudemonia means happiness and well-being.

It seems odd that “pneumonia” pertains to an illness and “eudemonia” pertains to well-being.

You never know what you may discover in nature and….in yourself. The discovery is to attain and have eudemonia!
